Elocutionkids aims to
help you teach your child the basics of British English Elocution.
By bringing together the
expertise of elocution teachers, specialised English teachers, LAMDA teachers, and speech and language therapists under one
umbrella as ‘Speech and Language Practitioners’, we aim to pool, share and to
simplifying our knowledge to help you meet your child’s speech, language and
communication needs in an accessible and affordable way.
\
In this Elocution Practice, you will learn about the importance of
strong vowel sounds for British English Elocution. You will be introduced
to four important vowels. You will also learn the special phonetic
symbols for these vowels which come from a specialised sound alphabet called
'The International Phonetic Alphabet' - the 'IPA' for short.
These important vowels are:
Ah (it sounds like 'R'!) /ɑː/
Aw (it sounds like 'Or'!) /ɔː/
Oh (it sounds like "Oh, really?"/əʊ/
Oo (it sounds like ('Ou' as in 'Ou, look at you!) /uː/.
We aim to guide you easily
through teaching you how to teach your child elocution. Also, we will aim
to tell you how language is formed, how to identify when your child may have a
speech and language difficulty, and how you may support your child.
We have put our free elocution
lessons and materials in easy to find pages within this website area.
We would be delighted to
receive your feedback on how you found working with our materials and, of
course, how you found working with elocutionkids.com.
We wish you and your child
every success with your elocution studies.
